Glo X Factor auditions moves to Ghana

Glo X Factor auditions moves to Ghana

The audition for the Glo X Factor Music Reality TV Show is moving to Ghana after a successful completion in Nigeria, a statement from Glo said.

The Nigerian auditions were held in Abuja and Port Harcourt, and the Ghana auditions are slated for May 4 - 5, 2013 at Goldren Tulip, Kumasi; and for May 11 – 12 2013 at Alisa Hotel in Accra.

The three judges, Hiplife grandpapa, Reggie Rockstone, Nigerian musical legend, Onyeka Onwenu, and Africa's Number 1 rapper, MI, have expressed excitement at being part of the history Glo is making in Africa with the musical talent reality TV show.

The three judges thanked Globacom for bringing them aboard the show and for offering a rare opportunity to African youths to explore their talents.

Rockstone said he was excited because X Factor is designed to find new talents. “I am optimistic because there are a lot of talents here in West Africa. I have seen them, and I am delighted I am one of those who will help unearth them.”

He said: “The $150,000 prize money is very enticing and the opportunity to have new talents stimulated my interest in the show. I can only be scared about new comers, and the part I love is that I'll double as judge and coach. That is awesome.”

Onyeka, popularly called the Elegant Stallion, said, “I am greatly excited to be part of this great show and I will definitely have fun while the competition lasts. I promise to be fair in my judgement, add humour to the game, be a good ambassador of Glo and display the greatest form of integrity which Globacom is known for”.

MI commended Glo for making history as the first company to bring the show to Africa. “I am very happy about this. It is going to be the biggest ever reality show in Africa and that's the truth. It's more than just about Nigeria or West Africa. It's about the whole of Africa. I'd be glad if another great artiste comes out from this pack to upstage people like us but such a person has a lot of work to do because he needs the X Factor to get to the top of the pack.”

Nigerian radio station Beat FM's Tolu Oniru popularly called Toolz, who was unveiled as the presenter of X Factor is equally excited, saying “it's the biggest ever reality show that Nigeria and Africa have ever seen. N24 million isn't a child's play; no other musical show has beaten that. And you know this year marks the 10th anniversary of Globacom and this programme, I believe, is part of the company's modest way of thanking its numerous subscribers”.

The statement said after the Ghana auditions, the judges will return to Nigeria for the Lagos auditions scheduled for Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26.

Sulley Muntari's Wife Hosts Charity Dinner In Milan

Sulley Muntari's Wife Hosts Charity Dinner In Milan

Menaye Donkor Muntari is to host a Gala dinner in Milan next month in the presence of high profile personalities from the world of sport, film and entertainment to raise funds for the Menaye Charity Organisation.

The charity gala dinner which is being held in collaboration with the Milan Foundation at the VETRA Theatre on 9th of May 2013, will welcome the squad of AC Milan among many other distinguished guests for a night of entertainment. Italy’s most famous TV presenter Gerry Scotti will present and guests will enjoy performances from international music artists and special guests.

The purpose of the event is to raise funds for the Menaye Charity Organisation which was established by Menaye in 2004 to support the welfare of underprivileged children in the Central Region of Ghana. Through the Menaye Charity Organisation, Menaye is also solely responsible for providing the funds and management of the Menaye School of Hope. The Menaye Charity Organisation provides everything for the school from the physical buildings and equipment through to the teachers’ salaries, uniforms for the students and books and stationery.

In the lead up to the event Menaye Donkor Muntari said:

“This event started as a dream so long ago. The upcoming event has taken many months of planning and organising so I’m so excited it’s now a reality and I feel truly blessed for all the support we are receiving. Every time I visit my school I get so inspired when I see the impact it is having on the children’s lives. I have always been taught that education is the most important gift you can give, because no one can ever take it away from you, and I know that we are giving these children the opportunity to go on and achieve great things. I am therefore delighted that everyone is coming together to support a great cause and help raise awareness.”

The VIP event in Milan will generate funds for the school through sponsorships, a charity auction and donations on the night. The money raised will then be used to help achieve five major objectives of the Menaye Charity Organisation:
School Buses: One of Menaye’s top priorities is to provide transport for the many children who currently have to walk several miles to and from school every day.

Expansion: The school is in need of new buildings to provide space to accommodate more children so the school can continue to grow.

Furniture: The classrooms need new desks and chairs to provide a more comfortable and efficient learning environment for the children

Food: Menaye wants to provide one meal/snack a day and to expand the cafeteria so the kids are healthy and happy as they study.

Extra–curricular activities: Menaye wants to offer new activities at the school, such as art and sports, as well as develop recreational areas.

Since 2004 the Menaye School of Hope has grown from housing 70 pupils in one block, to teaching over 200 pupils in new purpose built facilities. The school has so far provided education for over 500 children who would otherwise not have had access to an education. The school and its pupils have gained excellent results in the latest BECE examinations and through the Menaye Charity Organisation, the school has recently been provided with a new IT suite and a library.

Menaye’s intention for the Menaye Charity Organisation is to grow and develop the Menaye School of Hope in Agona Asafo to meet the needs of more children and she will also continue to support Ghana’s orphans, and the education of society about prevention and treatment of HIV and AIDS.

Menaye was recently featured on BBC World News Focus on Africa to raise awareness of the Menaye Charity Organisation and promote the Menaye School of Hope Gala.

The VGMAs, which happens to be one of the biggest music events in Ghana, brings together international acts to witness and sometimes participate in the annual historic event. Sources close to the management of Charter House say they are still in talks with several other musicians because they want this year’s event to be a spectacular one.

“For now what I know is that we have completed talks with Wizkid and he will definitely be at the show to thrill the audience.

I can’t tell which foreign artiste will be there to perform just yet,” the source confirmed to NEWS ONE. Wizkid was in town earlier this year with his pal Chris Brown for the ‘Chris Brown Live in Ghana’ concert where the famous ‘wee smoking’ on stage took place.

According to our sources, organizers are planning and working hard behind the scenes to get Nigerian’s P-Square and Samini to battle out their ‘Alingo’ and ‘Azonto’ claims on stage.

As to whether Charter House is making any headway with P-Square, we cannot say. Ghanaians just need to keep their fingers crossed till the day of the event.

Stars readyFor Ghana Music Awards Nomination Jam In Koftown

Stars readyFor Ghana Music Awards Nomination Jam In Koftown

If you are not on this historic party train, then prepare for the biggest upset on your 2013 entertainment calendar.

This is the biggest gathering of musicians in GH, mounting the biggest stage ever to be built at the Jackson's park for the biggest concert in Ghana since the Kwahu Easter Fiesta. The 2013 VGMA NOMINEES JAM.

I cannot even begin to outline the many beautiful reasons you cannot afford to miss this party. Yes, beautiful. That's one word that immediately glides across the brain like a gondola once that beautiful town, Koforidua is mentioned. With the metaphorical description of the most beautiful girls in Ghana as flowers, the place is unique in several ways. It has one roundabout, until recently had one traffic light, one central library and its youth affectionately call it "Koftown.

Enter this city of beautiful women from any part and you can be sure not to miss the old St George's Catholic Church standing tall with its two huge crucifixes embossed at the entrance.

Towering high above the city and with a sweet green scenery is the legendary Obuotabiri Mountains. It is believed to be the home of the gods of the town and is inhabited by dwarfs.

In the midst of all this beauty and awe are the good people of Koftown who celebrate the annual ''Akwantu Kesie'' festival. So don't be surprised that the trumpets are blurring louder than the vuvuzelas heard in South Africa during the last World Cup. The choice of venue couldn't have been more appropriate.

When the party train docks at the Jacksons Park at 6pm on Saturday May 20th, something spectacular will be unleashed. History will be made as R2Bees sing love (odo) to the flowers while telling the story of LIFE to everyone else. VIP will kick AWAY every sadness, pain and sorrow, while Kwaw Kese will be 'POPPIN' and 'DOIN HIS THING'.

Admission to the concert is absolutely free and with E.L on the bill, I doubt you will need more than 'ONE GHANA FOR YOUR POCKET' to come dance your head off to 'KAALU' and more. But all that can't happen till we 'SCREAM' with Eazzy to the tunes of Kwesi Oteng, Bisa of Azonto Ghost fame, Chris Waddle and a lot more.

This is not one of those concerts you get told of when it’s over. This is one that you experience...memories you can relive everyday till the next jam. But the show has one requirement. Please come on full stomach ready to laugh your head off with Ghana's funniest comedian yet, Funny Face. Dessert is 'ALUGUNTUGUI' and it will be served by Keche.

“Being our very first time in Koftown, we are giving this show our all in all. Patrons should expect the best in technical expertise including sound, lights, screens, stage… simply the best show ever in the history of the East. I can’t describe it cuz you must be there to experience it...”

says Nii Ayite Hammond, Head of productions at Charterhouse and GhOne. So wherever you are in Koftown and beyond, please mark the date, pack a shirt or two and make your way to the New Juabeng district. Specifically to Koftown for the party of your life. The first and biggest array of stars ever to hit Koftown! But just in case you can’t make it to Koftown, no worries. Just stay glued to GhOne entertainment TV in Accra, Takoradi, Kumasi, and now live in Tamale and nationwide on the multi TV digibox.

The14th VGMA Nominees Jam is escalating to the NEXT LEVEL! Saturday 20th April at the Jacksons park. Supported by Star Beer, Gh One Entertainment TV and proudly brought to you by Vodafone.

The Chief Executive Officer of FMG, Mr. Moses Frimpong popularly known as Usher acknowledged the need to celebrate the brand and use the opportunity to promote other local brands to the rest of the world.

“The dance must be officially celebrated to make the world know the dance is really from Ghana and use the medium to promote other Ghanaian brands especially in the country’s tourism industry,” he said.

All around the world, countries host dance festivals as a form of promoting tourism in their respective countries. Countries like France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, China, and South Africa just to mention a few have made good use of dance to promote tourism together with other local brands and it is no surprise that these countries are highly ranked in the World Tourism ranking.
